Manual Handling without the twist - keeping the jam in your doughnut!
Davy Snowdon
Davy Snowdon is a former Olympic Weightlifter and World Record Holder who founded Pristine Condition 12 years ago. This was in response to a request for bespoke manual handling in a hands-on format. Their approach covers all aspects of this topic and include such areas as manual handling at height and in confined spaces.
They are now regarded as the leading authority in Manual Handling training working with many large multi-national organisations, from a broad base of industry sectors and alongside key Insurers and the HSE.
The success of the business is due to their analysis and understanding of the issues and the optimisation of performance. This results in an increase of safety standards through the application of realistic and achievable principles in the workplace. This in turn provides a total solution package to enable risk reduction with many of their clients achieving a 100% reduction in manual handling accidents and incidents.
Davys ethos is enthusiasm is infectious which is replicated throughout their business a presentation never to be forgotten!

There's more to the environment than carbon - discuss!
John Pooley
Being able to understand the 'big picture' is an essential quality for the SHE professional. Carbon has been working its way up the environmental agenda until it is now arguably in the number one slot. The UK is probably the most advanced in its focus on carbon, but North America is following the EU lead and currently looking at 'cap & trade' options. Carbon is set to to be the new global currency.
But is the focus on carbon at the expense of other environmental issues? In this interactive session the role of carbon in environmental management will be questioned.
The starting point will be a five question quiz to explore the wider environmental implications of carbon reduction.
This will be followed by team working as a marketing agency to establish what a balanced environmental advertising message should be.

Learnings from a Tragedy
Neil Chapman
Head of Refining and Marketing Communications
BP
The explosion at BP's Texas City refinery on March 23, 2005 killed 15 and injured hundreds. It was the US's worst industrial accident for over a decade. As well as the angst of the human tragedy, the event was a hard shock to a business that prided itself on making safety a priority.
With the investigations, litigation and inquiries came a clear commitment from BP to become a leader in process safety and to share the lessons learned.
Neil Chapman led the on-scene communications, managing the response to media, community and regulators. His presentation focuses on the importance of integrating the operational and communications response, and details some of the important actions BP instigated around people, processes and plant on its journey towards process safety excellence.

Taming Tigers
Jim Lawless
What is the barrier to innovation, to change, to developing our skills, to building dynamic teams and to moving forward rather than stagnating?
Its the Tiger. The thing that roars at us and makes us back down when we move outside of the safety zone at home, in our communities or at work. The thing that seduces us into delivering mediocrity. Taming Tigers is a unique way of understanding the battle that we do with ourselves to take risks, to develop, to take the right decisions for us and for our teams and companies. The Ten Rules for Taming Tigers are a highly practical set of tools to help win the battle against the Tiger.
Taming Tigers was originally developed as a tool for creating cultural change, building teams and helping people make the leap to leadership. It was then tested by Jim in the sporting arena during his journey from overweight, non-riding consultant to his first televised race as a jockey in just twelve months. Over 75,000 people around the world have now heard about Taming Tigers in conference rooms.
