The Liquid Thinking Survival Guide to Change

Damian Hughes photo

Damian Hughes

Founder

LiquidThinker Ltd

Damian Hughes will explain the origins of our behaviour and performance.  He will demonstrate how to bring about genuinely lasting change in performance by identifying your own personal style, strengths and development areas.  An understanding of this deep rooted process is vital to succeed here as opposed to making surface level changes which fail to impact and do not last.  In any organisation, this must start with the individuals taking responsibility to manage their performance effectively.

Leading the way to an effective health and safety culture

Judith Hackitt photo

Judith Hackitt

Chair

Health & Safety Executive

Just one mistake can lead to a major failure, especially in the major hazard industries, because any system is only as good as its weakest link.  For that reason, it is an imperative that organisations ensure as part of securing sustained business excellence that they install a strong health and safety culture throughout their workforce, from the very top to the bottom.  The creation of this 'mindset' - where acting safely is an integral part of getting the job done properly - is dependent on strong leadership.  This presentation, therefore, will focus on what in reality this means as well as highlighting why leadership enables other things: workforce involvement, competence and risk prioritisation, associated with an effective health and safety culture to happen.

Sustainable Business - What it is and how we do it

Shaun McCarthy photo

Shaun McCarthy

Director

Action Sustainability CIC Ltd

This presentation introduces the concept of sustainable business and exposes some of the myths and sharp practice that conspire to confuse managers in businesses and public bodies.

It goes on to explore why organisations should choose to do their business more sustainably and how these drivers may influence the way organisations set their sustainable business goals.  They key message is that sustainably is a contextual concept which organisations need to define in a way that best suits their business.  Finally, the presentation highlights best practice in sustainable business.

The purpose of the presentation is to inspire the audience to think about their business objectives in a different way and to explore their own motivations, objectives and targets.

Tornado Down!

Flight Lieutenant John Nichol photo

Flight Lieutenant John Nichol

The first the world saw of RAF navigator Flight Lieutenant John Nichol was as a tortured British prisoner of war, beaten and humiliated by his captors.  The ensuing pictures were flashed around the world and became an enduring symbol of the first Gulf War.

John's message is one of optimism, inspiration and personal motivation.  His personal triumph lies in having discovered his potential to cope with extremes and achieve goals way beyond his perceived horizons.  John leaves his audience in no doubt that potential exists in all of us.
